Yoga ~ The word yoga means union, or to yoke or bring together. In our yoga practice we are bringing back together the body with the mind, so we can feel whole, relaxed and peaceful once again.
Namaste ~ You may have heard this common yoga greeting some-where. It simply means that the good in me sees the good in you. Yoga helps us to see the best in ourselves and in each other.
Asana ~ The physical postures of yoga are called asanas. The true translation means “steady seat”, since yoga in its’ original form thousands of years ago was meditation only.
Pranayama ~ This is the name for the breathing exercises that are practiced during each physical class. These exercises increase lung capacity, improve cardiovascular health and help you stay focused and relaxed during and even after your physical asana practice.
How many times a week should I practice?
Yoga is meant to be practiced daily. But most people don’t have that much time! What’s more important than how often you practice is how consistently you practice over the weeks, months and years. Our 4 week sessions are designed specifically to help you stay on track!
What if I miss one of my regular weekly classes?
If you miss your regular class please feel free to come to another class that week that fits better into your schedule. By sticking to the same number of classes per week over several weeks you will begin to see more significant changes .
